About Me

I was born with a paintbrush in my hand. I was told that by nursery school
I was drawing, painting and constructing at a level way beyond my years.
Art was my favorite thing growing up.

I did extra credit dioramas, graphs and maps for my school projects, built houses
and buildings out of tiles, blocks and balsa wood, cafes out of colorful telephone
wires and took classes in anatomy drawing at the Art Students League.

By my senior year in high school, I already had a plentiful portfolio.
It was as if destiny had already laid out the path I was meant to follow in
life. I studied painting, sculpture and glassblowing  at

Carnegie-Mellon
University
and received my BFA in 1981.

I came back to New York and created a body of artwork, which ranged from
drawing, colored pencil drawing and painting to mixed media canvases of paint,
sewn on fabrics, sequins, plastic mirrors, prism tape and found objects enclosed in
boxed frames with self contained illumination. The subject matter consisted
of people in social settings such as cafes, bars and discos.

I also did these large colored pencil and painted self portraits painted from
my point of view. This art was exhibited in several shows throughout the
NY area and received public acclaim in newspapers, magazines and television.
As the work evolved it became life size.

Just by coincidence, at the same time, I received my first mural commission in a
local plant store in 1984. I took to mural painting like a fish to water, was referred
to other clients and never looked back! Not only did I enjoy the fact that I could
make a living as a full time artist. I enjoyed interacting with clients, designers
and architects, rather being alone in a studio all the time. In addition, I felt my
talents were being challenged more, and I loved the diversity of working in all
different types of projects in a variety of subject matter, rather than cranking
out paintings in the same style and theme over and over again.

I also loved creating entire 3-D environments where you would feel like you were
living in that fantasy world created out of my life-sized painted canvases.
Mural painting, although commercial, seemed to be the natural
evolution of my own personal artwork.

I hope you enjoy viewing my site with the work that I have accomplished
